BCSO: Off-duty SA firefighter arrested after throwing object, striking girlfriend in head

David Ruiz charged with assault, BCSO says

SAN ANTONIO – A San Antonio off-duty firefighter was arrested early Sunday morning after he was accused of assaulting his girlfriend, Bexar County sheriff deputies said.

Deputies responded to a call for an assault around 1 a.m. They found a woman that had suffered an injury to her eyebrow.

She told deputies that her boyfriend, identified as 49-year-old David Ruiz, threw an object at her, which struck her and caused the injury. 

Ruiz was arrested and charged with assault, according to deputies. His bond was set at $3,500, county records showed.
