SAN ANTONIO – Educators, staff and students at San Antonio's largest school districts, Northside Independent School District and North East Independent School District, are heading back to school Monday.
While it's business as usual for most NISD schools, some students in NEISD will need to follow a new set of security protocols.
North East Independent School District will require all middle school and high school students to use clear backpacks starting Monday.
Elementary school students will be exempt from this policy and are still allowed to use traditional backpacks.
The clear bag policy will also be enforced at sporting events.
Other districts including East Central, Harlandale, Somerset, Southside, Southwest, Medina Valley and Comal independent school districts will also start classes this week.
All but Comal ISD will kick off the 2018-2019 school year on Monday. Comal ISD will start Tuesday.
