Neighbors say they heard arguing before gunshots killed 1, wounded 2

Shooting happened Monday night at Admiral Apartments on Midcrown

SAN ANTONIO – Neighbors at a Northeast side apartment complex said they heard a loud argument just before gunshots rang out, killing one and wounding two others.

The shooting happened just before 11:30 p.m. Monday at the Admiral Apartments in the 8000 block of Midcrown.

San Antonio police said officers who responded to the scene found an 18-year-old man on the ground bleeding and wounded near a parked car.

A second victim was found dead in the middle of the parking lot.

Police said a third victim, a 19-year-old man, was found on Walzem Road, where paramedics picked him up and took him and the other survivor to a hospital for treatment.

According to officers at the scene, there were two people involved in the shooting and were last seen running from the apartment complex.

On Tuesday morning, signs of the shooting, including crime scene tape and blood stains, remained.

Frances Hicks, who lives in the apartment complex, also recalled a conversation she had with her daughter around the same time.

"She said, 'Mom, what's that noise?'" Hicks said. "But I didn't think it was a gunshot."

In hindsight, she realized that is exactly what her daughter heard.

Although Hicks lives in a different section of the apartment complex from where the shooting happened, she said it still feels too close to home.

"They don't think before they act," she said. "They just act on it, and then someone's life is taken because they just do what they want to do."

Police have not released a motive for the shooting.
