Bat found in family's pool tests positive for rabies

DRIFTWOOD, Texas – A bat found in a residential area tested positive for rabies, according to the Hays County Sheriff’s Office. 

The HCSO was called to the 200 block of Black Stone Cove in Driftwood on Thursday for a dead bat call.

The bat was found in a private pool of a family residence in the Rimrock Subdivision.

Nobody made physical contact with the animal, according to a press release. 

The Department of State Health Services tested the bat for the rabies virus.
