In-N-Out Burger is a California icon. But its reputation has suddenly been tarnished for many people in the Golden State after it was revealed that the company donated $25,000 to the California Republican Party.
A California journalist is credited for uncovering the donation through a public filing:
Democrats are feeling extra blue over the revelation. Many have called for a boycott. The #BoycottInNOut hashtag is trending on Twitter.
Here are a few of the reactions to the boycott on Twitter:
In-N-Out is a staple for our friends visiting from out of state and my kids after sport celebrations- but NO MORE. Grab your wallet folks- this is a no brainer. @innoutburger #BoycottInNOut #GrabYourWallet @SashaKildare https://t.co/gRTqsrm40n— Katrina Hagen (@KatrinaHagen2) August 30, 2018
Hey, @innoutburger! I don't want a heaping helping of right-wing politics served up with my fries! Stupid mistake as you're just moving up toward Portland. Buh-bye. No longer a fan! - #innout #BoycottInNOut - In-N-Out Burger chain donates $25,000 to GOP https://t.co/zsJ6H3B2sC— Wolf L 🍻 (@beerguypdx) August 30, 2018
Yes. Everyone please #BoycottInNOut. You know, that company that has had bible verses printed on its paper products literally forever. Lets do it around lunch time, preferably. Right when I plan on getting there to order a Double Double. With extra onions and spread, obviously.— Pat Ahern (@Pat_Ahern) August 30, 2018
Ok we have gone just crazy with boycotts. If a business wants to support either party why does it matter? I dont go out to eat and check what political party they are. I go because of the food or atmosphere. #BoycottInNOut is just stupid!! Its a hamburger!!— Harry (@ramincol) August 30, 2018
