SAN ANTONIO – On Tuesday, San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg showed some children on the West Side that fitness isn’t just good for your health, it’s also a fun activity.
Nirenberg surprised 140 students at Stafford Elementary School with a day of energy and exercise as part of the Forward in Fitness campaign.

The campaign, now in its second year, welcomed Edgewood Independent School District schools into the fold.
“We want to make sure that it doesn't matter where you live, what your circumstances are, that you have the tools and you have the access available to having a healthy lifestyle,” Nirenberg said.
Nirenberg said the program is an important step in combating childhood obesity in Bexar County.
