SAN ANTONIO – The mother of a 7-week-old infant was arrested on charges of child bodily injury after the infant arrived at a San Antonio emergency room with multiple fractures.
Melissa Harris, 33, was arrested Thursday afternoon by Converse police.
Medical staff examined the infant and determined the child had suffered eight fractures in multiple locations.
Hospital officials said the injuries are from physical abuse and notified San Antonio police, who contacted Converse police with information on Harris’ residence.
Police located and interviewed Harris, and said she demonstrated “an action consistent with the injuries.”
A warrant was written for Harris’ arrest and she was taken into custody.
