Parents have to sacrifice for their kids all the time, and it's not often that they get back what they had to give up. But one San Antonio father was just gifted one of his most prized possessions - a 1993 Ford Mustang GT.

It was Wesley Ryan's dream car.

"If you knew my dad back in the day, in his hay day [sic], you knew this car and knew how much it meant to him," Wesley's son, Jake, posted on Facebook.

"Many memories growing up with it, with a dream to have it as my own one day," Jake Ryan wrote.

But Jake said his dad sold the car for financial reasons after his mom was diagnosed with cancer.

"One of the biggest sacrifices I’ve seen him have to make for us, for all of us. I know how much it broke him in half seeing that car drive away from him. A day I’ll never forget," Jake posted.

So almost two decades later, his now-grown children decided they wanted to find the car and give it back to him. And that's just what they did.

Jake and Jeni Ryan found the car's current owner and negotiated a deal to buy it back for their dad.

They delivered it to him a couple weeks ago and the reunion was captured on a video Jake posted to Facebook.

"Looking forward to building this car with you this time instead of being in a booster seat looking out the window," Jake posted.
