Police: Man in custody after firing shots at girlfriend, leading police on chase

Woman OK; Juan Kilpatrick faces six charges in shooting on Running Horse

SAN ANTONIO – A man is in custody after he fired several gunshots at his girlfriend and then led police on a vehicle chase late Tuesday night, San Antonio police said.

The incident began just before 11 p.m. at a home in the 8500 block of Running Horse, which is located not far from Old Pearsall Road on the city's Southwest Side.

According to police, Juan Kilpatrick, 34, man fired the gunshots at his girlfriend's vehicle while she was inside her truck in front of her home. Kilpatrick fled, leading police on a vehicle chase until he got out at a nearby cornfield in the 4700 block of Old Pearsall Road.

Police used their Eagle helicopter and eventually spotted Kilpatrick walking out of the cornfield with a rifle to a nearby trailer park. After three hours of searching, they found him hiding inside a car, police said.

Officials said the woman was not hurt in the incident. 

Kilpatrick faces several charges, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and retaliation, police said.
