SAN ANTONIO – A 37-year-old man is accused of sending inappropriate text messages to a minor and requesting sex acts from her, San Antonio police say.
Richard Welch faces charges of online solicitation of a minor under 17 years of age and sexual performance with a minor under 14 years.
Due to the sensitive nature of the case, San Antonio police officials withheld some details regarding Welch's arrest.
They did say that SAPD officers were called Sunday just before midnight for a report of a possible sexual assault of a child at an undisclosed location.
The victim showed officers text messages that Welch had sent her, which police said were inappropriate and were requesting sexual acts.
Police said Welch was arrested at that location after speaking with SAPD detectives.
Welch is now facing first- and second-degree felonies. His bail has been set at $100,000.
