Driver leads police on slow vehicle chase, obeys traffic signals

Woman and man arrested suspects in armed robbery

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police have arrested a man and woman who were in a car that was involved in what officers called a “slow-speed chase.”

The two people in the car are suspects in an armed robbery early Wednesday morning on the city’s West Side.

Officers at the scene said they had been called to Barton’s Boozery, located in the 7000 block of W. Military Drive, shortly after closing.

Two patrons told them they were robbed at gunpoint as they left the bar.

As officers were talking to them, they said they saw the suspects’ car drive by again.

Police say they got behind the vehicle and followed it, at first, then activated lights and sirens to stop it.

Instead of pulling over however, the woman kept driving, traveling at speeds of only about 30 mph and stopping at every red light, police said.

The car eventually came upon a construction zone and stopped in the area of Zarzmora and Centennial, about eight miles from where it began.
