San Antonians try their luck at two huge lottery jackpots

Mega Millions, Powerball combine for $1 billion jackpot

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonians are crossing their fingers that Lady Luck will be on their side as they buy tickets for Mega Millions and Powerball.

The combined jackpots for the two lottery games have surpassed $1 billion.

While the odds of striking both jackpots are close to zero, a lot of people, like Milly Manigault, are taking their chances.

"I'm going to buy some here," Manigault said. "And then I'm going to go to the West Side, and I'm going to buy some more."

Even people who normally don't play the lotto are thinking about taking their chances this time around.

"I don't usually buy lotto tickets, but I may just do that today," Cynthia Cuenca said.

Big's Aztec Corner Store sold a $5 million winning ticket this week, and some regular customers are hoping that winning streak will continue.

"We buy tickets here all the time, every week," Angela Edens said. "So it was a bummer that it wasn't somebody from our office that won, but hey, more power to the person that won."

Edens is still going to try her luck and plans to buy tickets for both jackpots.
