Baby saved after mother killed in double shooting on city's South Side, police say

Juvenile male suspected of killing 2 women, police say

SAN ANTONIO – One of the women killed in a double shooting on the city's South Side on Tuesday was pregnant, police said.

Police said they were called to the Rosemont at University Park apartments located in the 100 block of Emerald Ash around 7 p.m. and found one woman dead and another woman gravely wounded, but still alive at the time.

The second woman, who police said was pregnant, was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center, where medical professionals were unable to save her, but able to save the infant. Police said the child is in "guarded condition."

The Bexar County Medical Examiner said Wednesday that the two victims were ages 37 and 18. It's unclear which woman was pregnant. Officials have not yet identified them.

According to police both were standing next to an SUV when a juvenile male suspect opened fire, according to police. Police said he may have lived at the apartment complex.

Police said the juvenile took off running after the shooting. They're still searching for him.
