Drivers in 2 stolen cars lead police on chases at same time

3 people taken into custody

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police found themselves with trouble times two—drivers in two stolen cars trying to get away from them at the same time.

Officers with the Park Police Department originally tried to initiate a traffic stop on one of the vehicles Monday night on the Northwest Side of town.

They spotted the dark-colored Dodge Dart around 10:45 p.m., shortly after it was taken at gunpoint from someone in the 300 block of Eland Drive.

Police said the owner of the car was pistol-whipped during the carjacking but was not seriously hurt.

When officers turned on their lights, they say the person inside the stolen Dodge kept going, leading them on a slow-speed chase through the Interstate 10-Loop 410 area.

Another vehicle, a Mazda, had been following the Dodge.

Police say the driver also sped off, causing officers to chase it.

They eventually found the Mazda at a nearby apartment complex and took one person into custody.

The Dodge, meanwhile, ended up crashing.

Two people got out of that car and tried to run, but officers quickly caught them.

Police say both cars turned out to be stolen.

All three people were taken into custody.
