1 hospitalized, 1 in custody, several on the run after shooting in Hondo


HONDO, Texas – One person is in the hospital, one person is in custody and police are looking for three men after a shooting Tuesday evening in Hondo, police said.

The shooting happened around 6:15 p.m. in the 1300 block of Avenue D.

Hondo Police Chief Brian Valenzuela said two cars were following each other and pulled over on Avenue D, where an altercation involving four or five people broke out.

The chief said multiple gunshots were fired.

One person was hit and taken to the Brooke Army Medical Center. That person is stable.

Valenzuela said one person was taken into custody and police are looking for possibly three men.

The Texas Department of Public Safety and the Medina County Sheriff’s Office are assisting with the investigation.
