Intersection of Wurzbach Rd., Evers Rd. closed while SAWS crews repair pipe

Water main broke near intersection of Wurzbach Rd., Evers Rd.

SAN ANTONIO – UPDATE: A spokesperson with SAWS told KSAT the road will be blocked off for the remainder of the day while crews work to repair a broke pipe.

Water service was restored to the area at 6:30 a.m. after a 12-inch cast iron pipe broke.

The pipe was originally installed in 1985.

"Pipes like this are very strong and breaks can be pretty spectacular, especially if the break is on the top side of the pipe, like this was," the spokesperson said.

SAWS crews are digging out the pipe to replace the affected section.

Emergency crews are working to fix a water main break on the city's Northwest Side early Tuesday morning.

The water main break was reported around 3 a.m. near the intersection of Wurzbach Road and Evers Road, not far from Loop 410.

Officials say the water main broke forcing water up to the street. The break caused problems for morning traffic in the area.

SAWS officials said the repairs may take some time and the street will be closed for "most of the day." Both SAWS and SAPD were at the scene.

There is no word yet from SAWS on any outages.

This is a developing story. Stay with KSAT 12 both online and on-air for more information.
