Man dead after shooting woman outside north side hotel, police say
Shooting happened at the Home2 Suites on Loop 1604 near Highway 281
SAN ANTONIO – UPDATE July 22, 2019:
San Antonio police confirmed Monday that a man accused of shooting a woman outside a north side hotel Sunday died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Police identified the man as Steven Ruiz, 43.
Investigators say after the shooting, the SAPD asked Selma police to look for Ruiz at his home in the 400 block of Auburn Park, in Selma. Officers found him inside his vehicle, dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Selma PD is investigating Ruiz's death.
The victim has been identified as Darleen Seibert, 44. SAPD is investigating her shooting.
A woman is in a hospital after she was shot by a man outside a hotel on the city's north side overnight.
The shooting happened just before 1 a.m. Sunday at the Home2 Suites by Hilton in the 1800 block of North Loop 1604 East, near Highway 281.
Police said a man and woman were arguing inside the hotel lobby. They walked outside to the parking lot, where the man shot the woman in the abdomen, police said.
She was able to walk back inside the lobby to ask for help. The woman was taken to University Hospital in critical condition.
The man left the scene in an SUV, police said.
The shooting is under investigation.
