Police: Crooks seen yanking ATM from truck stop in Seguin

SEGUIN, Texas – Seguin police say several crooks yanked an ATM from a truck stop Sunday.

The crooks were seen on surveillance video walking into the store with chains. Police said they wrapped the chains around the ATM at the Love’s Travel Stop on I-10.

The other end of the chains was latched onto a truck that pulled the ATM to the ground.

Someone made calls for help, and one man tried to stop the thieves and he was knocked to the ground and injured.

The thieves got away in a red truck with the ATM.

Robbery Love's Travel Stop 19-P26708

On Sunday, July 28, 2019, at approximately 3:20 am, SPD officers responded to the Love’s Travel Stop located at 3158 IH 10 West in reference to a robbery. According to the preliminary investigation, three black males in a red pickup with chrome running boards backed the pickup to the front doors (eastside) of the store. The men quickly wrapped chains around the ATM, which was inside the store, then the pickup accelerated, dragging the ATM out of the store. While the suspects were wrapping chains around the ATM, a citizen engaged with one of the suspects in an attempt to stop the thieves and sustained a minor injury when the suspect assaulted him. The three males, with their faces concealed, then loaded the ATM machine into the back of the pickup and fled the scene. Police are asking anyone with information about the suspects, anyone who was there during the incident, or has video of the incident to contact the Criminal Investigations Division with the Seguin Police Department at 830-379-2123.
