Woman wounded, boy grazed in NE Side apartment shooting, police say

Shooting occurred just after 10 p.m. in 4800 block of Goldfield Road

SAN ANTONIO – A 37-year-old woman and a 14-year-old boy were both wounded in a shooting at a Northeast Side apartment complex late Tuesday night, San Antonio police said.

The shooting was called in just after 10 p.m. at the Horizon Apartments in the 4800 block of Goldfield Road, not far from Rittiman Road.

According to police, the pair had heard a commotion outside their ground-floor apartment, and shortly after opening the door were struck by gunfire.

Police said a large fight likely broke out outside their apartment and it appears several suspects had handguns and were shooting through the parking lot, possibly at somebody running away.

Several unoccupied vehicles were hit by the gunfire as well as three or four additional apartments in the complex, police said. Investigators said they discovered numerous shell casings in the area.

The injured woman was taken to Northeast Baptist Hospital. The boy was only grazed by a bullet and was treated at the scene.

Police said the investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
