SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio firefighters have been keeping an eye on a South Side home where a fire that started Thursday evening rekindled overnight.
A neighbor noticed flames and smoke around 1 a.m. Friday coming from what was left of a home in the 600 block of Escalon.
Firefighters arrived and quickly put out that fire.
Since then, crews have been posted at the site to make sure it doesn’t flare up again.
The original fire broke out after 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
The people who lived there told firefighters they heard their water heater explode just before flames began spreading throughout the home.
All 12 of them escaped the fire, although two had to be treated for smoke inhalation.
The fires caused heavy damage to the home.
