Arrest made in shooting death of woman found in car

Miguel Martinez, 27, charged with murder, in police custody

SAN ANTONIO – Miguel Martinez, 27, was arrested Wednesday afternoon in connection with the slaying of 33-year-old Laura Carter.

"During the course of the investigation homicide detectives were able to develop enough information, enough leads to point them towards Mr. Martinez," said SAPD spokesman Doug Greene.

Police responded to a call in the 300 block of Arrid Road Jan. 11, and discovered Carter's body in the drivers seat of her silver Honda Accord.

"When they arrived they found Mrs. Carter deceased from multiple gunshot wounds in the driver seat," Greene said.

Authorities believe Carter and Martinez knew each other but police said they still have more questions.

"It did seem a bit odd that they were in that location. Again, we are still trying to gather more information and figure out why they were there," said Greene.

Martinez (pictured below) will be charged with murder, according to SAPD officials.
