ALAMO HEIGHTS, Texas – An arrest warrant has been issued for a second suspect in the shooting death of a teenager in Alamo Heights.
Dayne Spivey, 17, is wanted in connection with the slaying of 17-year-old Tristan Compean, whose body was found in the middle of a street in Alamo Heights early Monday morning. Police said Compean had been shot several times.
Police said Compean was attending a party in the 6800 block of Broadway when he left to do a drug deal that went bad.
Police said Compean got into a car with two people, one of whom was Michael Teneyuque, 19, who was arrested and charged with capital murder Monday.
Spivey, who has been arrested twice for possession of marijuana, in 2014 and 2015, is still being sought.
Compean's mother, Jessica Alvarado, said this has been a difficult week for her as Spivey has not yet been found.
"My son was my everything. He meant the world to me and they shattered that in a matter of seconds. They stole that from me," she said.
Alvarado said she disagrees with the police account that the shooting stemmed from a drug deal.
"The media has been quite cruel in portraying (Compean) to be a drug dealer or involved in a drug deal, and that wasn't the case. My son did not deal drugs," Alvarado said.
Police said they believe Spivey and Teneyuque tried to rob Compean before he was shot.
"They probably saw the size of my son, and they were intimidated and felt that was the only way they could defend themselves when they attempted to rob him," Alvarado said.
Teneyuque is being held in the Bexar County Jail on a half-million-dollar bail.
