SAN ANTONIO – An attic fire destroyed a far Southwest Side home early Friday morning, San Antonio firefighters said.

The fire was reported just before 2 a.m. in the 600 block of Linares Street, located not far from South Zarzamora Street and Frio City Road on the city's far Southwest Side.

Firefighters said when they arrived the fire was already in full bloom.

The woman who lives inside the house said she was preparing to go to work when she first spotted the fire coming out of the attic. The woman was unharmed.

Firefighters said the fire took roughly 30 minutes to put out. The home is a total loss.

Arson has now been called to investigate the cause.
