Bandera county officials said all indications are that Chemello was only involved with one student. Chemello was a science teacher and tennis coach.

He's now being charged with improper relationship between educator and student.

Bandera High School's superintendent Regina Howell responded to the incident Monday, saying, "Under federal law, school officials cannot provide information about students without parental consent unless a specific exception set out in the law permits disclosure of the information. I can, however, tell you that the teacher in question did resign, and his resignation was accepted,"

Howell went on to say "I and the other administrators of Bandera Independent School District will handle all such situations in an appropriate and responsible manner, and in compliance with the law as we understand it," Howell said. "Know that Bandera ISD is doing our best to ensure the safety and well-being of our students and our staff." Howell said.
