BCSO detention deputy arrested in undercover operation

Termaine Elliott accused of providing drugs, contraband to inmates

SAN ANTONIO – A Bexar County Sheriff's Office detention deputy was arrested Friday in an undercover investigation that revealed he provided drugs and contraband to inmates, Sheriff Susan Pamerleau said.

Termaine Elliott, 22, was taken into custody as he walked into the Bexar County Adult Detention Center on Friday morning.

Elliott was charged with bribery, possession of a controlled substance in a correctional facility.  Both charges are felonies that carry a maximum of 20 years in prison, if he is convicted.

More charges and possibly more arrests could follow as the investigation continues, Pamerleau said.

"I want the public to know this sort of behavior will not be tolerated," Pamerleau said. "This is one reason I created the White Collar Crimes section when I became sheriff.  While we know we have outstanding employees who represent our agency with the highest level of professionalism and are committed to this community's public safety, we know there is a need to identify those who do not.

"We make sure the bad ones --  which are few -- are investigated, held accountable and removed of their badges, if necessary.  There's no room for bad or corrupt deputies at the Bexar County Sheriff's Office."

Pamerleau said it's unclear how long Elliott was allegedly helping smuggle drugs and contraband since he was hired in February.

A thorough security sweep is being conducted to make sure no drugs or contraband are in the jail, Pamerleau said.
