Big Give 2017 presently underway

Goal is to raise $6 million in 24 hours

SAN ANTONIO – The Big Give 2017 is presently underway after starting at midnight last night.

The Big Give is a day of online donations to local nonprofits that connects people with a cause. The event also helps to create awareness about lesser non-profit organizations in the greater San Antonio area as well.

Volunteers have been working since midnight for the 24-hour donation blitz.

Nonprofits first gathered at Yanaguana Garden on Wednesday for a Big Give SA pep rally just hours before the event kicked off.

Last year organizations raised a little over $4 million, but the event was plagued by technical problems. This year, organizers have raised the bar and are hoping to raise $6 million.

"You can go online give to the organizations that you care about. Find new organizations that you've never heard about before (and) donate to them as well,” partner for Big Give SA, John Burnam said. “All of that shows us what we can do together as a community when we come together in 24-hours and give."
