Body found badly burned in August 2015 identified

Examiners identified body as that of Lisa R. Carter

SAN ANTONIO – The identity of a badly burned body found on the side of W. W. White Road in August 2015 was revealed.

The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office said the body was that of 47-year-old Lisa R. Carter.

"This is very sad because this is somebody's loved one that’s been identified, but it also provides some closure to the family," said Rosanne Hughes, BCSO spokeswoman.

About 5 a.m. Aug. 17, 2015, a driver spotted Carter’s burned body on the side of South W. W. White Road.

Officials were able to identify Carter with help from the University of North Texas Health Science Center.

"This is really tough work, and all of us are used to watching crime shows on TV. We see everything resolved in 30 minutes or 60 minutes, but in real life, it can take a long time,” Hughes said.

The investigation remains open. Anyone with information about Carter’s death is asked to call the Bexar County criminal investigations division at 210-335-6070.
