Body of teen found at NW Side park

Body of 19-year-old found at Leon Creek Greeway area

SAN ANTONIO – The body of a 19-year-old man was found Thursday morning at a Northwest Side Park.

San Antonio police were dispatched to the Leon Creek Greenway area near Grissom Grove and Grissom Pass after the teen's body was reportedly found around 8:30 a.m. on a dirt road off Culebra near Old Grissom Road.

Homicide detectives were also called to the scene although it was unclear what the cause of death was. A police spokesman said the body did appear to have a gunshot wound, however, and that the teen was likely shot where he was found. The spokesman said it's possible there was a struggle prior to the shooting.

The teen's family reported him missing Wednesday night then went out searching for him themselves. Investigators said it was members of the teen's family who found his body in an area where they said he often hung out.

Another dead body was found on the Leon Creek Greenway about two weeks ago. The medical examiner identified that victim as Daniel Flores, 30.

Investigators Thursday said the teen's death is likely not related to Flores' death, however.
