The notice was issued hours after an 8-inch main line broke Wednesday night.

According to a city news release, customers are urged to boil water for two minutes before using it for drinking, cooking and making ice.

As an alternative to boiling water, residents can buy bottled water or get water from some other suitable source for drinking or human consumption, officials said.

Customers will be notified when the boil-water notice is no longer in effect.
