BROWNE'S BLOG: Are our Augusts hotter now?

By Steve Browne - KSAT Weather Authority Meteorologist

SAN ANTONIO - So yesterday, while doing a story about football practice in the extreme heat, Memorial High football coach Alex Guerra mentioned that Augusts are hotter now than they used to be.

Is he right? We checked.

Today, we set another record daily high temperature of 105°.

Since 2000, we have set 13 new record highs including the highest August temp ever recorded of 110° in 2011.

In that same time we have set only one new record low.

Those numbers are a bit lopsided on the hot side.

The coach is right. Augusts are hotter now.
