SAN ANTONIO - Playtex is recalling plates and bowls for children due to a choking hazard.

The polypropylene dishes have a clear plastic layer that can bubble up and peel posing a choking hazard.

Playtex received 372 reports of the plastic layer bubbling and 11 reports of those plastic pieces in children’s mouths.

The plastic layer covers the various graphics printed on the plates and bowls, including giraffes, cars, princesses, superheroes, etc.

Playtex is written on the bottom of the dishes, which have a non-slip bottom and colored rim on top.

These dishes were sold at Babies “R” Us, Target, Walmart and various stores nationwide as well as online at

The dishes have been available for purchase from October 2009 to August 2017 so it’s important to retroactively check cabinets for the potentially hazardous plates and bowls.
