Convenience store employee accused of sexually assaulting 12-year-old

Faraz Ahmad charged with indecency with child by contact

SAN ANTONIO – A convenience store employee was arrested hours after he allegedly sexually assaulted a 12-year-old.

Faraz Ahmad is charged with indecency with a child by contact.

Police said the 12-year-old was walking to school when the child stopped at the convenience store on West Mariposa Drive, just north of downtown.

The child then said Ahmad asked him to help him find his keys in the back, and that's where the alleged assault happened, police said.

“I think we as parents need to talk to them more. ‘Who's talking to you? What are they telling you? Don't ever go with a stranger somewhere where you aren't comfortable,’” said Isabel Corona, a mother of three.

The child then went back home and called his parents, who then called police.

San Antonio police Officer Douglas Greene said along with talking to children, parents and children can also take safety measures to protect themselves.

"We always try and encourage kids to walk together in groups. Try not to be alone. There is also a lot of technology these days for parents to track their kids and have instant communication with their kids, so we highly encourage people to invest in (them)," Greene said.

Officers are trying to determine if there are any other people Ahmad may have victimized. They said if you are a victim, you should call the Special Victims Unit at 210-207-2313.
