Fugitive sex offender from San Antonio arrested in Dallas

SAN ANTONIO – A convicted sex offender wanted on a new charge in Bexar County for more than a year has been arrested in Dallas, officials said.

Kimberly Johnson, 42, was indicted in May 2016 for failing to comply with sex offender registration conditions. She was featured as a fugitive on KSAT-12 in January.

Johnson has been on probation since 2014 for her attempted sexual assault conviction. The state's sex offender registration site said Johnson's victim was a 19-year-old woman. Johnson is required to verify her home address annually through 2028, among other requirements.

The U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force joined the search for Johnson, who last lived on the Northwest Side of San Antonio.

Friday afternoon Dallas police arrested Johnson during a routine traffic stop, Deputy Chris Bozeman said.
