Juan Francisco Arguello, 25, wanted since August 2017

SAN ANTONIO – A convicted sex offender who avoided arrest for a year was arrested during a traffic stop over the weekend.

Juan Francisco Arguello, 25, was convicted of sexual assault of a child and sentenced to probation. As part of his punishment, Arguello was required to complete a sex offender treatment program.

Law enforcement authorities had been looking for Arguello since August 2017. Arguello was indicted in Bexar County for failing to complete the treatment program and absconding from supervision.

KSAT-12 featured Arguello as a fugitive last month. On Sunday, Arguello was in a car that was stopped by Medina County Sheriff's Department deputies for an undisclosed issue, said Deputy U.S. Marshal Chris Bozeman.

Arguello will eventually be returned to Bexar County to face charges.
