Task force made up of officers from multiple agencies

SAN ANTONIO – Since the beginning of the year, the Violent Crimes Task Force has made arrests, served warrants and seized drugs. In less than eight months, the task force is now seeing results.

Members of the task force come from various agencies — the San Antonio Police Department, Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, and state and federal agencies.

Since Jan. 1, the task force has seized marijuana, heroin, cocaine and meth. The total amount seized: 196,376.5 grams. It has also seized $901,320.

Members of the task force have arrested 3,032 people, 330 of which are gang members. And there have been 1,582 felony charges, 1,260 for narcotics alone.

In under eight months, the officers also recovered 42 stolen vehicles, with a total value of $532,479.

To give you some perspective, in the first three months of the year, 950 people were arrested, and about 62,000 grams of drugs and nearly $230,000 were seized.
