U.S. Marshals arrest North Carolina murder suspect in San Antonio

Travares Waters, 39, charged in fatal 2015 drive-by shooting

SAN ANTONIO – A North Carolina man wanted in connection to a fatal 2015 drive-by shooting was arrested in San Antonio on Wednesday, ending a more than two-year search.

Travares Waters, 39, was arrested just before 9 a.m. by members of the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force.

He also faces a misdemeanor charge of marijuana possession.

Waters is accused of shooting and killing a man inside a car in Onslow County, North Carolina, in March 2015.

The victim, 32-year-old Tony Vince Lewis Jr., was seated inside a car in a gas station parking lot.

Waters is accused of firing the fatal shot while riding by on a moped, according to previous media reports.

Waters has been remanded without bond, pending extradition back to Onslow County, North Carolina, according to a post on the Onslow County Sheriff's Office Facebook page.

Authorities said Waters was using the alias "Terry Smith."
