SAN ANTONIO – The Bexar County District Attorney's office revealed new details Thursday about the past of a woman charged with theft in a cancer charity event.
Andrea Vasquez faces four theft charges over an alleged incident that took place in October 2016 during an event for a cancer charity. Prosecutors said she failed to pay a designer for work for the event and wrote bad checks to three vendors, resulting in almost $30,000 stolen.
Additionally, they say the group the event was supposed to benefit never received any money.
But according to the DA's office, this isn't the first time Vasquez has faced these types of charges.
They say Vasquez was on probation out of Kentucky for felony theft by deception when she killed a woman and injured her daughter in an intoxication-related crash, for which she was sentenced in 2001.

Prosecutors also said she has pending cases for misdemeanor theft in both Bexar and Hidalgo Counties.
The previous cases came up after Vasquez's attorneys requested a bond reduction. They want her bond reduced from $50,000 per charge down to $50,000 total.
A judge is expected to make a decision on the reduction next week.
During the hearing Thursday, prosecutors also took the chance to question Vasquez's boyfriend, Jazziel Cedillo, about conversations he'd had with Vasquez since she was arrested.
Cedillo said on the stand that on the day Vasquez was arrested, she told him to have an iPad she was arrested with "wiped."
She also told him to pick up a child support check from her mother and stepfather, Cedillo confirmed, and if they didn't give it over, then he said she told him he should "jack it."
