SAN ANTONIO – The physician practice of UT Health San Antonio took a big step forward Wednesday with the dedication of UT Health Hill Country, a clinic near Boerne, officials said.

It’s located just off Interstate 10.

Dr. William L. Henrich, president of UT Health San Antonio, attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

“We hope this is just the beginning,” Henrich said in a news release. “We hope to (open clinics) more and more around the city.”

The 19,000-square-foot building will offer a wide variety of services, including primary care, orthopedics, radiology, physical therapy, urology, behavioral health and lab work.

This marks a departure from the traditional model of an academic health center located in an urban setting only, Henrich said.

A unique aspect of the clinic is that it’s linked to the more than 700 physicians in 120 specialties in the overall UT Health physician practice, said Dr. Carlos A. Rosende, the executive director of the physicians of UT Health San Antonio.

Alamo Architects designed and Bartlett Cocke General Contractors constructed the building.

The clinic will open for patient appointments March 6.

UT Health Hill Country is on the growing Northwest I-10 corridor, close to the Leon Springs and Fair Oaks Ranch areas.
