Board members told KSAT 12 they voted to get rid of Perez because they could no longer reach him and claimed he abandoned his job.
KSAT 12 reported in November that the Texas Rangers were investigating Perez after a Bexar County audit raised serious questions about the finances of multiples ESDs that Perez was affiliated with.
A warrant used by the Texas Rangers to search Perez's home said, "Checks were out of sequence for ESD 10, 11 and 12," which is "typically a red flag indicator of concealing misappropriated payment."
ESDs provide fire and medical services to unincorporated areas of Bexar County.
So far no charges have been filed against Perez, who has previously have no comment when contacted by KSAT 12.
