Dozens displaced by apartment fire on South Side

Fire was reported around 4 a.m. at Harlandale Apartments

SAN ANTONIO – Dozens of people have been displaced by a fire in a South Side apartment building early Thursday morning.

The fire was reported around 4 a.m. at the Harlandale Apartments in the 300 block of Robert E. Lee, found near South Flores Street and East Southcross.

Firefighters said when they arrived they found heavy smoke and flames shooting from the roof of the building. Officials said six apartments have been destroyed by the flames.

15 units worked to keep the fire from spreading elsewhere.

Fire officials did say one woman was hurt but that she did not need to be taken to the hospital.

Arson investigators will work to determine the cause.
