Driver arrested after hitting pedestrian, fleeing NE Side, police say

Suspect allegedly admits to reading text before hitting pedestrian

SAN ANTONIO – A driver accused of reading a text before hitting a pedestrian on the sidewalk on the Northeast Side has been arrested and charged.

Along with texting while driving, Marcus Allen Hodge, 46, is also charged with failure to stop and render aid.

Police said Hodge only returned to the scene on Rittiman Road on Thursday when he realized someone was following him.

Police said he admitted that he was reading a text when he hit the man.
