Ex-boyfriend sought as person of interest in West Side shooting

Shooting is second incident involving gunfire within hours on Ceralvo Street

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police are looking for the ex-boyfriend of a woman who was shot in a West side neighborhood Thursday morning.

Investigators at the scene said the man, whose name was not released, is a person of interest in the case.

The woman, who is in her 30s, was riding in a pickup with a coworker on their way to work when someone in a black sedan fired several shots into the pickup, police said. The pickup came to a stop in the 1600 block of Ceralvo.

The woman was shot in the head, stomach and arm, police said. She was taken to University Hospital, where she was last reported in critical, but stable condition. The man who was driving the pickup did not appear to be hurt. The shooter got away, police said.

The gunfire woke up Alan Mineros, who lives two blocks from where the pickup stopped.

"It's the West Side, anyways, It happens over here," he said. "People get used to shots. People get used to this. It's just that this time, it happened so close to my house."

There was another shooting a few hours earlier near Mineros' home.

Police received a call around 1:40 a.m. for a shooting in the 1800 block of Ceralvo. Details about the shooting were not  immediately available.

Police didn't say whether the two cases might be related.
