Family honors deceased loved one: 'She was just a bright, shining light'

Allie Marie Holloway, 22, found Tuesday morning in North Side home

SAN ANTONIO – A 22-year-old woman's death is under investigation by San Antonio police after she was discovered early Tuesday morning in her North Side home.

The Bexar County medical examiner identified the woman as Aletta Holloway, but loved ones knew her better as Allie Marie Holloway.

Holloway's family is now preparing to honor her without having answers about how she died.

"She was just a bright, shining light," Lynda Holloway said of her niece. "She was very, very talented. She was a dancer and a singer. She had a beautiful, beautiful voice."

Holloway's family remains proud of her musicality and generosity. The daughter, niece and friend lived in a fourplex with her boyfriend in the 11300 block of Belair Drive. It's the same place she was found by emergency medical services and police 2 a.m. Tuesday.

Investigators said the boyfriend admitted the two were out drinking earlier in the night and went home after arguing. The boyfriend told detectives Holloway "passed out" and never woke back up.

"She'll always be here with us. She'll always be here with us. She was the only girl in our whole family so our princess is gone," Lynda Holloway said.

Holloway's family is now preparing funeral arrangements, while San Antonio police waits to find out her cause of death from the medical examiner, which could take four to eight weeks.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks people donate used musical instruments so that they may pass them on to a local school or program.
