Firefighters working to determine cause of overnight fires

Both fire officials in Kirby, and on South Side investigating

SAN ANTONIO – Firefighters are working to determine the cause of two unrelated overnight fires on separate sides of town, fire officials said Monday.

The first fire occurred at an apartment complex in Kirby on the city's far Northeast Side around 10 p.m. Sunday.

Firefighters said in that instance both an elderly woman and two children were able to get out of the home safely.

The second fire occurred around 12:30 a.m. at a home in the 300 block of Bustillos Drive on the city's South Side.

Firefighters said a gas can was found near the scene.

No one was hurt in that fire.

So far there is no word on how much damage was caused.
