CRYSTAL CITY, Texas – The former mayor of Crystal City was arrested again on Wednesday, this time on a harassment charge.
Ricardo Lopez, who resigned from his post in February, was arrested on a warrant, according to the Zavala County Jail administrator. He was released Wednesday evening on a $2,500 security bond.

According to a court filing requesting a modification to Lopez’s pretrial release in his case, the federal warrant was in response to complaints made by the Crystal City Clerk Selina Ramos. The filing appears to quote a complaint Ramos made to the Zavala County Sheriff’s Office which claims Lopez “entered City Hall, during her working hours and entering her working area making her feel threatened and uncomfortable.”

This makes the third arrest in the past three months for the former mayor of the troubled South Texas municipality. He was first arrested on federal conspiracy and bribery charges in February, then by Crystal City police during a City Council meeting about two weeks later.
His second arrest brought charges of hindering proceedings by disorderly conduct; resisting arrest, search or transport; and possession of a prohibited controlled substance in a penal facility. Lopez had pain medication when he was booked into the jail. He told KSAT 12 he had a prescription.
