Bexar County sheriff's officials said deputies arrived at a home in the 8100 block of Chipping on April 28 and found two children, ages 3 and 4 years old, tied up in the back yard with a dog chain and leash. One of the children was bound by the wrists, and the other was bound by the ankles, officials said. The children were transported to a hospital for numerous injuries.

Deputies found six children, ranging in age from 10 months to 10 years old, inside the home, officials said. There were no adults in the home.

An hour after the discovery, Phillips, the mother of the six children found inside the home, showed up at the residence with Dorch, officials said. Reed, the mother of the two children found in the back yard, claimed she was in California, officials said. The trio were friends who had recently moved from California. They are awaiting trial and could face up to 10 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine if they are found guilty.

The children are in the custody of Child Protective Services.
