Group of children from Sweden visit Morgan's Wonderland

Children enjoyed activities like riding on swings, fishing

SAN ANTONIO – Five girls and five boys with special needs from Sweden visited Morgan’s Wonderland on Friday.

The children are part of a nonprofit organization called Min Stora Dag, which translated to English means “My Special Day.”

The group grants wishes to children with severe illnesses, medical conditions and cognitive challenges.

The children were accompanied by volunteers and parents.

"For many kids in wheelchairs, they just get to see everyone else go and have fun, so it means a lot because here they are included,” said Andreas Ljungkvist, a parent of one of the children.

The children enjoyed activities like riding on swings and fishing.

For these families, getting the opportunity to get on the rides together means the world to them.

Project Angel Fares, another nonprofit organization provided lunch and backpacks with snacks for the families.

"Any time you see a child in a wheelchair his whole life and then put him on a swing and he gets the freedom of movement, it's touching,” said Sharon Krietzburg, Project Angel Fares development coordinator. “All of a sudden something inside them clicks and it brings them a little peace.”
