Hail causes fire at Magic Time Machine restaurant

Incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday

SAN ANTONIO – Hail caused a fire to break out at long-time local eatery on the city's North Side, the San Antonio Fire Department said Wednesday.

The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Magic Time Machine Restaurant, found in the 900 block of Northeast Loop 410.

Investigators said the fire was contained to a small portion of the roof and was caused by a broken neon light that shorted out following a hail storm. A few wooden panels were also damaged.

An American flag was also brought down by the weather. Guests eventually found the flag and picked it up before folding it and leaving it on the doorstep of the establishment.

The amount of damage caused by the roof fire is not known.
