SAN ANTONIO - HEB and the MD Anderson Cancer Center are joining forces to battle cancer. On Friday, they launched a statewide fundraising effort.
Customers can donate money at HEB registers around the state. The funds will go to the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center’s research, prevention and education programs.
HEB also unveiled new trailer trucks that support the effort.
"Today, we are striking through the word cancer. It’s our symbolic commitment to finding an end to this disease,” said Julie Bedingfield, with HEB public affairs. “We’re borrowing MD Anderson’s logo. We put it on the side of out trailer, and folks can see those trailers all across the state for the next four weeks while the campaign is going on."
The campaign includes all Texas HEB stores, including Central Market. It will run through Sept. 13.
