Highlands HS shows off $65 million renovation

Money came from SAISD 2010 bond

SAN ANTONIO – A school on the San Antonio's Southeast Side on Monday unveiled it $65 million renovation.

Highlands High School now has a new two-story building to house its fine arts program and auditorium.

There is also a new ROTC Center and "go center" to help students prepare for college.

Highlands was the biggest of the San Antonio Independent School District's 2010 bond projects. 

The renovation also included a new cafeteria and new classrooms.

Construction was done in phases to minimize disruption to staff and students, the district said.

As projects from the 2010 bond wrap up, the district is beginning work on campus renovations that were approved as part of its 2016 $450 million bond.
